Who is eric Fernung
Eric Michael Fernung, a native of Madison County, Indiana, discovered his passion for art at a young age. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of nature on a farm, he developed a deep appreciation for the world around him. Inspired by a Smithsonian magazine featuring the breathtaking canyons of Utah, he initially aspired to become a photographer, driven by a desire to capture the wonders of the world through his lens.
Eric pursued his interest in photography at Indiana Wesleyan University, embarking on a journey that would take him across continents. His thirst for exploration led him to China, Czech Republic , South Korea, and Thailand, where he experienced different cultures and expanded his artistic perspective. However, upon returning to Indiana, Eric faced a challenging transition, finding himself increasingly involved in the restaurant industry.
In 2013, amidst the demands of his professional life, Eric reignited his artistic passions. He picked up a brush and began painting, experimenting with various styles and mediums during his limited free time. The unexpected turn of events in 2020, with its pause on normalcy, provided Eric with a newfound opportunity to fully dedicate himself to his art.
Immersing himself in painting, Eric honed his skills and began receiving commissions for landscapes, portraits , and eventually pet portraits. It was during this time that he had an epiphany. Standing before a blank wall in his rented living room, he decided to transform it into a canvas for a large-scale mural. Inspired by the classic artwork "The Flapper" by Fx Leindecher, Eric documented the process and shared it on social media.
To his surprise, the short video clip gained widespread attention, and Eric started receiving inquiries and requests for more murals. With each opportunity, his talent as a muralist blossomed, leading him to travel to various locations for commissioned projects. Eric's journey, from an aspiring photographer to a versatile artist specializing in large-scale murals, is a testament to his dedication and determination to pursue his true passion.
